SMU Senior Design

2016

Senior mechanical engineering students at SMU can pick a project of their choosing,  to work on throughout the year.  I immediately called up a friend from WDFW and asked if they had any fish conservation projects that could use some engineering know-how.

Our goal was to create a modular, low-impact and affordable fish counting system that can be utilized in small to mid sized streams, where a larger installation would be impractical.

Throughout the development, we designed to mitigate the challenges of variable flows, unpredictability and harsh environmental conditions.
